ANNOUNCEMENT
On June 9, 2023, Koza MiXtopia Inc., a general incorporated association in Japan, was established with the mission of building partnerships and relationships that value each other with the motto of equality, respect and fairness based on the Okinawan philosophy of "Yuimaaru”. We maintain and support the core concept of Koza X MiXtopia Research Center (est. 2019) as an experimental lab to explore Okinawa's alternative future through art, activism, academia and community-building across national borders.
I have always envisioned the Center as a dynamic think-tank center bringing vitality and diversity of Okinawans and Okinawan diasporas in dialogue through practice. In the fall of 2022, MiXtopia International Team was formed by students, artists, activist, and mothers who live across national borders and all of whom with Okinawan roots and interests in Okinawa and Okinawa diasporic futurity.
As founding director of Koza MiXtopia Inc., I am excited to see what lies ahead in the coming months and years as I move ahead with the team imagining and creating Okinawa’s futurity and possibility of what I call, ryukyufuturism.
